Another book I bought for 50 cents at the Gordon Avenue Book Sale – a friend had picked it up, even though she’d read it, because she wanted to give it away. Any book that is good enough to be purchased for gifting is something I want to read, so I took it from her.
The story? I knew nothing about it, and was completely stunned when I realized what it’s about. (Exciting news in that wikipedia article – Jennifer Lawrence is producing the film version and will play Jeannette, as an adult I presume.)
I’d loan it to you, but I left it with my mom in Ohio.
Oh, and here are the rest of the books I bought at the Gordon Avenue Sale – which one should I pick up next?
How Proust Can Change Your Life! Because he can. The P. Gourevitch book is also very good, if extremely dark. And O, Pioneers! is probably Cather’s best. I think you can’t go wrong here!
