Why are you reading this book?
*sob* This is the last Wendell Berry novel I hadn’t read!
What is the first line?
“I picked him up in my arms and I carried him home.” So Nathan would end the last of the stories of his childhood as he told it to our children.
Describe the book in haiku form:
this is my story
the foretelling of my hope
my giving of thanks
(excerpts from the book)

Anything else you’d like to say?
It’s been at least a month since I finished this book, and I couldn’t bring myself to write about it. Most likely, I’m going to pick up another novel in the series and start close-reading. Underlining in places, instead of simply folding over pages that need to be viewed again. I’ll spend some quality time with the characters, learning from them instead of merely learning their stories.
That’s going to be nice.
