Observant internet stalkers (aka close friends) have noticed a new pin board, Nalle30. Let’s talk about that.
First, I’ve been toying with the idea of an elimination diet for a LONG time now, knowing that my awful seasonal allergies and colds might be alleviated by decreased inflammation that others have experienced when they cut out sugar and/or dairy. BUT I love sugar and dairy, and lack will-power. (Insert other excuses here.)
The biggest boundaries for me, though, were the community factors – my housemates eat meals together as often as we can, and I didn’t want to miss out on that shared experience.
Then, miracles of miracles, one of my housemates bought the Whole30 book, which I’ll review in the coming week. This sparked a conversation about how we’d all be interested in this experiment, and a realization that tackling it together would be much easier. (Also more fun, because it would mean more shared meals.)
To make the plan a bit more palatable, we decided to primarily cut out sugar, dairy, and gluten. I wanted to read the book, since I love to intellectually over-prepare for all new endeavors.
We set a start date, and moved it back a few times, but TODAY! IS! THE! DAY!
(Not this week’s groceries – replace that bread with frozen fish and it’s pretty close.)
YOU’RE GREAT
THANKS!
