I don’t even know where to start. How about some local announcements?
First, if you want to hear more rambling stories about the process of making quilts, I’m posting them here. If you want to SEE my quilts, and hear some of those stories in person, COME TO CHARLOTTESVILLE ON APRIL 5TH! (I tell you now because I know you finally have 2013 calendars, paper-calendar-people, and I want you to write it down.)
Cville TimeBank! Open to the public! If you want to hear more, check out this awesome radio spot (caution: autoplay), or start following our Facebook page, or buy me a drink and start asking questions! Come to our first potluck of 2013 to sign up.
Have you heard about Charlottesville SOUP yet? It’s…let me just pull this from their page because it’s so succinct…”a seasonal public dinner series funding micro-grants for creatives.” It is ALSO a way to find out about cool upcoming projects in the area, like the Bantam Theater, whose first event is an indie zombie film that I am totally pumped to see (here’s a review). More details about SOUP here. If you can’t make it this time, keep them on your radar, as this will become a regular event in the community.
Okay, that’s the end of the local excitement, for now. Everyone who doesn’t live in Charlottesville – you want to move here now, I’m sure – can pay attention again.
The Problem With Your Elevator Pitch… – Have an idea or a business you’re trying to share with others? This really nails why elevator pitches are so annoying, but also explains how to be less so.
Even though I’ve taken a temporary hiatus from seeking out dating advice, this little snippet is good for everyone:
Confidence is not arrogance, but rather, a quiet assurance that who you are is exactly what the world needs.
Sweetheart of the Rodeo – Birdie Busch! She’s so great. Go listen to her music!
Who else has been sick this past month?
Here are the things proven to make you happier. Such a great list.
The best thing about classic movie recommendations is that you can find many of them on Netflix instant.
The Art of Dress. I missed an awesome class this J-Term!
Could you go to Paris alone? This is a great Q&A about one woman’s trip. I particularly love her answer for the most meaningful/interesting conversation she had while there.
My Tumblr isn’t so much curated space as it is a symptom of deeper pathologies made manifest.
I’ll admit, I don’t fully understand what that means, but it sounds so very thoughtful. Much more here: Pinterest, Tumblr, and the Trouble with Curation
That’s all! Have a great weekend!
