I made this for you!

made this

This has nothing to do with anything, but last night I was raiding the pantry (it may have been after 10pm, and I may have started the horrible snack habit of alternating between sweet and salty snacks, but let’s give me credit for walking back and forth from my bedroom to the kitchen) and noticed a jar of PUMPKIN BUTTER! That I bought at Trader Joe’s last year! And never used! But then I realized, it’s OCTOBER! Seasonally-appropriate! But, TJ’s, being fairly brilliant at both making food and convincing us to buy it, gave this pumpkin butter an expiration date of 29SEP2012. Is this brilliant to anyone else? Am I the only one who finds this mildly devious?

In related news, anyone want to help me eat some pumpkin butter?

My crush on Mindy Kaling continues. Who else is watching her new show?

“Anybody can have a birthday,” says Kaling. “It requires nothing. Murderers have birthdays. It’s the opposite of anything that I believe in. And I don’t like at work where you stop everything to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to someone. I feel like that’s for children. But if I banned birthdays from my new show, people would think I’m a monster.”

I agree with her. Obligatory celebrations irk me for some strange reason –  I much prefer spontaneous celebrations of people. Or DAILY celebrations! (Ask my housemates.)

Who has a copy of Born to Run I can borrow? Because, once again, I realize I should read it.

Here’s a useful list for understanding corporate buzzwords. DOWN WITH CORPORATE BUZZWORDS!

So…what type of art do YOU love?

Ben Affleck comes across as a normal dad who happens to have a cool job. On the other hand, Jake Gyllenhaal comes across as an enigma. Celebrity branding!

Hey look! An article about the Welcome Wagon! I link to it! (Captain obvious.)

Another adorable family on Beyond the Flavor – with a recipe for steak salad – YUM!

This…is very interesting…especially as I pass the one-year mark with double vision. I’m devising new schemes for managing the disappointment, and also trying to find some advocates.

Things to Ban Instead of Commonly Banned Books. Yes.

Okay, it’s cool that Pantone came out with a skin tone guide this week, but even COOLER are some of the art projects that I discovered because of the news reports.

Please go read the answer to Question Two. And then share your theories.

  1. Oh my. Okay. I think I should be embarrassed how interesting I find the Jake Gyllenhaal article. I have always really liked him. But now am worried I’ve been suckered by the emo appeal that I try so definitively to avoid in real life. I am now questioning everything. Including my answer to the below. Still, it is my answer:
