not looking back

One thing that annoys me about this month – everyone starts publishing retrospectives of the year, and a small voice inside me shouts, “IT’S NOT OVER YET!”

I found a delightful blog that shares daily prompts for thinking and writing in December – with the idea that you’re reflecting on the past year and making plans for the next. And I think that sort of thing is valuable, might end up participating occasionally, but again, I think, “But what sort of things are happening in 2010 while I am looking back or looking forward?”

Can’t we just pause everything for a bit, between years, and create some time to breathe and reflect? My brain can’t handle being in the past, present, and future all at once.

  1. That’s what the week between Christmas and New Year’s is for! No reflection until then! It’s too early! There are still a few weeks left in 2010.
