The first week of the new year, a friend loaned me her copy of this book by Madeleine L’Engle, and it probably changed my life.
But, you know, in a subtle way. Like, when you start spending more time with a certain person, you start to share a common lexicon, you start to see the world a bit through their eyes, and you might even learn how to process things a bit differently than you would have before they came along.
The Crosswick Journals are essentially highlights of Madeleine’s personal journal. She has organized them loosely around a few themes, or perhaps a few questions, but they have this beautiful irrationality where you never know what she’s going to share next and you usually can’t find the common thread until you step back and look at the book as a whole.
So, what I’m saying is that I have a total crush on Madeleine L’Engle. She’s my new literary BFF. More on this later.
